Builders: Start HERE

NEW HOLLAND, PA – Builders have lots of things to consider before starting a new project. Permits. Architectural plans and designs. Zoning restrictions. There’s a full plate of concerns before the ground is ever cleared.

But, once that ground is leveled and they’re ready to begin, it’s important to “start smart” with a precast concrete foundation.

Superior Walls® offers builders unmatched benefits with the most competitive foundation system available in the marketplace. The company’s precast insulated concrete wall panels are dimensionally accurate and install quickly to provide a strong, energy efficient foundation for your project.

“Builders can start a project with fewer headaches when relying on a precast concrete foundation,” says Keith Weller, vice president and CFO of Superior Walls.

Three key reasons for builders to use precast concrete foundations include:

Reason #1Time Savings. A Superior Walls project can typically be installed in just hours, not weeks. Wall panels are set in place by crane and secured together with bolts by trained crews; laser-leveled to be plumb, level, and square. Joints are sealed tightly and permanently with special adhesive sealant.

Reason #2Scheduled Delivery. Once completed and cured, Superior Walls products are delivered to the job site. This factory-to-job site delivery promotes reliable scheduling, allowing projects to run more quickly and efficiently, with less waste and less down-time.

Reason #3Professional Installation. Certified trained crews install the superior systems typically in less than one day, in virtually any weather. That means a builder’s crew can confidently start building the very next day.

“We all know that a top-quality foundation is critical to the success of a new home,” says Weller. “How a builder starts a home plays an important role in how solidly the house will turn out.”

Weller points to three sets of facts builders should consider before selecting a home foundation.

Fact #1 – The patented design and construction features of the Superior Walls® Xi and Superior Walls® Xi Plus wall systems include one-inch foam insulated concrete studs and one-inch foam insulation on the bond beams to help ensure energy efficiency in the home. Facing against the environment, the panels have a concrete face shell backed by 2-1/2-inches of DOW® extruded polystyrene insulation in the Xi wall system and five inches of insulation in the Xi Plus wall system.

Fact #2 – The Superior Walls Xi and Xi Plus foundation systems are concrete cavity wall panels with concrete studs at 24 inches on center attached at the top and bottom with bond beams. The entire assembly is faced with an integral concrete face shell. The wall is reinforced with rebar and polypropylene fibers providing additional structural strength.

In addition, the concrete studs are cast with holes for wiring and factory galvanized steel on each stud for interior finishing. Superior Walls panels are available in a variety of standard heights and custom lengths to suit a project. The maximum axial load (uniform house weight) for this product is 7500 pounds per linear foot. Special point loads up to 50,000 pounds can be accommodated.

Fact #3 – Superior strength is built into each panel based on the 5,000+ PSI concrete that is used during construction of the panel. The concrete used in Superior Walls products provides lifetime protection against freeze/thaw cycles and water vapor transmission while the urethane sealant used between panels provides superior protection against sidewall water penetration.

The high-strength low-water concrete mix is poured for solid structural integrity and reinforced with steel rebar and polypropylene fibers. Each panel also includes horizontal steel rebar inside top and bottom beams and vertical steel rebar inside each stud.
