Getting Zen with Superior Walls
When Sunny and Stephanie Keach decided to invest in the construction of the Asheville Yoga Center in 2011, it was important to them to construct a building that lends itself to yoga. So, they oriented it on an east/west axis for plenty of natural light … and they relied on Superior Walls AG Wall System.
“We moved from a space with 1,400-square feet to more than 3,400-square feet combined which gives us so much more room for our classes and training,” says Sunny Keach, co-owner of Asheville Yoga Center. “This new building sits on a gently sloping lot with the floor level three-feet below grade at the back of the building.
“We knew we didn’t want to build with block, but we wanted a tight and well-insulated structure. We also knew we wanted a single plane on the interior walls, which proved a challenge in the detailing with block below grade and stick framing above.
“Superior Walls was the ideal solution to the particular challenges on this building. We had considered them early in the process when Elm Construction & Design recommended them to help sort out water infiltration issues. The fact that this impressive product actually helps reduce waste, installs quickly and eliminates the need for a foundation sold us on the product.”
The AG System has created a very quiet, tight and well-insulated building for the Ashville Yoga Center. Under direction from the Keaches, additional insulation was added in the walls and roof that exceeds building code standards, in order to create a truly tranquil, energy- efficient environment for yoga class participants.
