Superior Walls Foundations Used for Inner City Affordable Homes in Toledo, Ohio

 In Blog Post, Residential Projects

When Thomas Porter Architects and Neighborhood Housing Services (NHS) of Toledo were tasked by the City of Toledo Department of Neighborhoods NSP Program with the job of designing an affordable home in a historically sensitive neighborhood in Toledo, they turned to Great Lakes Superior Walls to get a firm start.

“Past project homes for NHS were designed with poured wall concrete systems that had multiple problems,” says Stuart Cline with Thomas Porter Architects in Toledo. “We’ve experienced everything from pouring concrete in inclement weather to inconsistency in concrete mixes.”

At one point Cline decided there must be a better way to create a foundation, so he arranged a tour for NHS to visit an in-progress installation of a Superior Walls foundation on a residential project being constructed by Jim Moline Builders.

“The reliability of the product matched with the skilled installation provided by certified crews at Great Lakes Superior Walls was the most important factor in choosing Superior Walls as their foundation construction standard for all their new home projects,” says Bill Farnsel of NHS,” says Cline. “This was the first time we had the opportunity to use a Superior Walls foundation within Toledo city limits, but it won’t be the last.

“Based on our outstanding experience with this precast insulated foundation system for the ‘cottage bungalow’ project on Fulton Street, the Superior Walls system has now become a preferred construction product by NHS for all homes they’re proposing to build in the near future.”
