Absolute Construction Wins Gold Medal in Local Parade of Homes
NEW HOLLAND, PA. – To build a winning showcase home you have to start with smart product decisions from the ground up. That’s what Nelu Skumpija did when selecting Superior Walls® precast concrete foundations for his winning Parade of Homes showcase home in the Chapel Ridge subdivision in Pittsboro, North Carolina.
The 3,353-square foot home was one of 56 homes created for the 32nd Annual Parade of Homes sponsored by the Home Builders Association of Durham, Orange and Chatham Counties (HBADOC) in October. As a result of the exceptional construction of the home, the entry from Absolute Construction and Development LLC received a gold medal.
“This recognition for the La Casa de Amor home shows that people truly appreciate well-constructed homes that are dedicated to energy efficiency,” says Skumpija, founder of Absolute Construction and Development LLC. “We started the foundation for this home with energy-efficient and damp-proof Xi™ wall panels from Superior Walls for many reasons.
“Drainage is essential with a basement. Superior Walls products ‘sit’ on a bed of rocks with drain pipes for any water to be able to easily exit. These precast concrete walls are structurally sound and pre-drilled for electrical wiring. They are also pre-insulated so no additional framing is needed to accommodate wiring and optional additional insulating. The end result is an energy-efficient foundation that I can depend on to provide my customers with comfortable living spaces.”
Absolute Construction is a multi-year Parade of Homes award-winning custom home builder in Chatham County and surrounding areas in North Carolina. As the founder of the company, Skumpija serves a dual role as a project manager to assure quality of construction.
“Seeing the speed with which the Superior Walls are installed by the certified crew is impressive,” says Skumpija. “It’s a one-day installation so that my team can get started the very next day with construction of our homes.”
The Xi wall panels used by Skumpija in his award-winning homes feature steel reinforced concrete and 2-1/2-inches of DOW® Styrofoam™ insulation to create a barrier against sidewall water penetration. The panels are custom designed and constructed in a factory-controlled setting. Unique features of the Xi wall panels include:
5,000+ PSI concrete
Steel-reinforced top bond beams, concrete studs and footer beams
Horizontal steel rebar inside top and bottom beams
Vertical steel rebar inside each stud
Insulated access holes for ease in wiring and plumbing
Galvanized steel stud facing ready for drywall finishing
Insulated corners, studs and bond beams
For the new homeowners of the homes constructed by Absolute Construction, the benefits of the Superior Walls foundation system are substantial. The energy-efficient walls help lower energy costs and reduce energy leakage while providing increased living and storage space in a comfortable setting.
“Based on strong attendance from the Parade of Homes we already have orders for this home design from several people,” says Skumpija. “That means we’ll be starting more projects with Superior Walls foundations in the near future!”
